Purpose, Vision & Mission

Purpose:

We exist to display the beauty and worth of Jesus to the world.

Vision:

We desire to be a church planting church that creates gospel-centered communities that multiply themselves.

Mission:

To live out our vision, we are committed to teaching and training every member to be a local missionary who lives on mission for the fame of Jesus. Here’s what this looks like:

  1. Live gospel-centered lives: We are people who really get the gospel, which means we really get our sin (actions, beliefs, motives, etc…) and completely depend on Christ alone for salvation and acceptance. Repentance of our sin is real and often. We are people who go out into the world without a shred of self-righteousness. We have no superiority complex. We are gentle, humble and loving because we get that God looks at Jesus to see us and our identify is firmly rooted in Jesus’ work and Jesus’ reputation, not ours. Thus, we are sinners, but accepted. Completely a mess, but extravagantly loved.
  2. Build gospel-centered relationships: We are willing to carve out time in our lives to be with those who are far from God and living in darkness. We make sacrifices for them and seek to forgive, bless and pursue; even when it’s not reciprocal. Jesus modeled this perfectly, in that while we were still sinners, enemies of Him, He died for us! This is the mantra of gospel-centered relationships. We are patient with people and are willing wait for people to get the gospel as we share it in word and deed without watering it down.
  3. Clearly communicate the Gospel: We are people who don’t wait a year before we share with the gospel in word with those who need to hear it. We share our own story of how God saved us and share what the Bible says about salvation and the need for it. We are loving and Spirit-led in this communication and it comes out naturally, not forced and not like a salesman. We get that salvation belongs to the Lord and He saves people, not us. Lastly, the message we share doesn’t contradict the way we have lived among them which displays the gospel and the beauty of Jesus.

When God’s people live this way, you’ve got redeemed lives for the glory of God all throughout the city in countless contexts. This is the mission that we labor towards.

Purpose, Vision and Mission in a nutshell:

  1. Exalt God: This is worship. This means we display the beauty of Jesus through our lives of worship. This must be our first priority. Worship happens when we find our joy and pleasure in God alone. The overflow of our joy is always worship of what brought us joy.
  2. Edify the body: This is community. This means we display the beauty of Jesus through living unselfish lives within the body of Christ for the building up and training of the church which means every member is using their gifts unselfishly to serve one another within the church.
  3. Equip the saints: This is discipleship.  This means we display the beauty of Jesus by intentionally raising up leaders who not only live lives that are fully devoted to Jesus, but leaders who multiply themselves by intentionally investing in others (men with other men & women with other women; 2 Tim. 2:1-2; Titus 2:3-5).
  4. Extend grace: This is mission. This means we display the beauty of Jesus by living out the gospel in word and deed. We are to live as sent missionaries wherever we are by applying the gospel in every context of life and loving and being in relationship with unbelievers.
